Opus 82 was established in 1982. That makes us a young wind band, and we would say, youthful. We like to do thiings that maybe not all other bands do, and are always looking for new concert ideas. Repertoir is vital to us, and we like to be ambitious. We are not a marching band and we don't have uniforms - instead we like to play really nice concerts.
Competitions are not vital to us, but we usually go to the yearly National Championships in Trondheim. In recent years we have stayed mostly in 1st division. Our best result was 5th place in Elite division, in 2005.
We have a chamber music setup, with many good musicians in every group. We play together every Tuesday between 18:30 - 21:30 at Sandvika videregående skole in Bærum. We are about 35 members from the Oslo metropolitan area. The age spans from 16 to over 50, while most are between 20 and 45.
Our conductor since 2011 is Sverre Olsrud. A professional euphonium player, he currently plays with the Norwegian Armed Forces' staff band.
